We all have to agree that universe holds so many mysteries, and that so many of them are breathtakingly beautiful. The study of science is one of humankind’s most important activities. Fortunately it has been going on for a long time. We still have a long ways to go, but what a delight it is to enjoy all that we have discovered so far. A science museum is just the place for that and the Bangkok Planetarium is in fact that place!
Surprisingly fun and fascinating for both children and adults, the Bangkok Planetarium offers experiences in simple physics, magnetic, human anthropology, dinosaurs, insects, Thailand’s oil production, sections on ecology and much more. But the main focus is on the theme of space and in this regard it is an incredible venue for education at just about every level and age. Sitting underneath the vast dome and watching the presentation on the stars and constellations, as well as our own solar system, up above is simply magnificent. It is merely unfortunate that the English language shows are only once per week there.
So many of the displays are interactive, which means that visitors can get directly involved in the miracles of science and learn to understand them viscerally. When you have had fun with one, move on to another.
There are plenty at the Bangkok Planetarium and it is a great half day or even full day trip.
Although first established in 1964, upgrades and renovations have been undertook, which means that nowadays the Bangkok Planetarium is all-new, modern and comfortable. The great thing is how easy it is to get to. A short walk of about 200 meters from the BTS Skytrain Ekkamai station (next to the high-end Emporium shopping mall), from exit 2, will bring you right to it.
