Bangkok is served by the BTS skytrain and the MRT underground system. Other options to navigate the city include metered taxis, motorcycle taxis, river taxis, tuk-tuks and buses. Metered taxi fares start at 35 baht. The passenger is also responsible for any Expressway fees. For tuk-tuks and motorcycles, always negotiate and agree on the fee before you leave.
A word of warning; many of Bangkok’s most revered religious sites attract their fare share of unsavoury characters looking to scam unsuspecting visitors. The usual trick is to approach tourists and inform them that the temple is closed for the day and offer to take them somewhere else. You are about to be scammed…temples in Thailand are open every day.
Bangkok’s climate is tropical and humid for the majority of the year. The best time to visit is November-February, when it is slightly cooler. The hottest time to visit is April and May, with temperatures reaching 38 C. The wet season runs from late May-October with frequent heavy but brief downpours.
